Maximum numbers of fish per cage

Norway: The Norwegian Directorate of Fishery and Aquaculture propose a maximum numbers of fish per cage of 200 000 individuals.

The main reason for this is to prevent escapes in large numbers. According to the Directorat its more damaging with 400 000 individual fish in a cage than 200 000 if an accident happens. The background for the specific number of 200 000 is the fact that most of the cages have no more fish than this.
