New shellfish product from Lyons

UK:Lyons Seafoods is launching a new range of brined shellfish products to increase its share of the British seafood market.

The shellfish and speciality seafood company has witnessed strong sales of its frozen and chilled products in recent years and is now branching out with its new Extra Large Hand Peeled Coldwater Prawns and Extra Large Crayfish Tails.
The new range will be targeted at manufacturers and retailers and is aimed at meeting consumer calls for products that are low in fat and high in omega-3 and vitamins.
Paul Vita, Lyons Seafoods commercial director, said that the UK brined shellfish sector is "currently driven by a low price and low quality spiral" and the new products will add a higher quality option of handpeeled prawns and crayfish, with superior flavour and texture, to meet consumer demands.
UK-based Lyons unveiled a new Lyons Seafood Deli range in April this year targeted at the lunchtime and ready-to-eat market and offering "an exciting and healthy alternative" to traditional sandwiches with Dipping Prawns and Mini Pots.
